Like, maybe over ventrilo or tinychat — some hosting client like that. Very informal — provide your own accompaniment (totally fine, even encouraged to use vocal tracks to sing along to)

Probably run it for a couple hours — 8-10 central time, maybe?

And listeners can maybe send in votes to FYBB and we’ll give the most popular singer of the night a shoutout?

We talked about this in my music history classes. We've institutionalized the music that was written to express the emotions and ideas of the period. People used to sing along to operas and play cards if they didn't like the part. During Hayden's "surprise symphony" people cheered at the subito forte. It was like the dubs rep at the time. We've even institutionalized jazz. It's so backwards that we can't express our appreciation/antipathy toward a piece of music. But that's why it was written.

Right, yeah, exactly!

Something that really interests me is, like, electric string groups. Bond, Vitamin Quartet, and such. Like, what venues do they play at? What kind of reaction does their audience give? They seem very bridge-between-worlds, esp. as a lot of bond’s music comes straight from classical scores.

So I know a lot of us like to get very haughty about clapping during performances and stuff… but this is actually really thought-provoking. Are we limiting classical music by treating all pieces with reverence? And are we restricting other genres in the same way by consigning them these roles?

Presenting the flower bow! This year in WGI, Minnesota Brass got our attention with their flower character in their 2013 Production: The Dandelion. This was a highly requested bow and after drafting and finalizing the product for a few days, it is finally complete!

The bow/bow-tie features a pin of the flower’s face which can come off the bow! :) You can wear the pin or decorate a certain item. Just be careful when you take off the pin so you don’t prick yourself. It comes off easy and will not damage the bow/bow-tie once taken off.

The bow/bow-tie will cost $4 plus shipping ($5) and it should arrive to your location in 1-2 weeks. I really hope you guys are satisfied with the result (because I am) and hope to see you guys buying this! :)

Note: This will be a temporary bow meaning it will be in my shop til it expires (which is 5 months I believe on Etsy).

I think this is the first cover I’ve heard of Libertango that I really, really LIKE.

It’s really not my favorite piece, but the extra color the flutist adds with the breath tones and the guitar make it much more interesting.

I understand what you're saying about people who overhype their ability to play multiple instruments, but there are a lot of people who legitimately are extremely talented with more than one or two. I mean, yeah, the guys and girls who go to extremes to boast about how they play a ton of instruments usually suck, but there are those of us who can play (for example) guitar, piano, and a woodwind or brass instrument and be good at all of them, you know?

Um. Sure, but that’s still 3 instruments. I’ve yet to meet someone who can play (for example) viola, harp, piano, clarinet, flute, trumpet, tuba, and euphonium and play them all WELL.

And maybe my standard of well is different, too! I’ve certainly raised my standards since coming to college. :)

Where do you submit dating advice like you did for a while? Because those were really funny :)

I think you make a super valid point with the multiple instrument playing people. I am a singer and a horn player, but I can play basic guitar and ukulele. My family assumes I can play piano also (not at ALL) and then I am A+ perfect at everything else, too. Yes. Anyway. I agree with your rant. :)
