Take Five — Formosa Recorder Quintet
Dear Everyone who has been reblogging the “hot cross buns” pitchy recorder shit, or the titanic one, or really anything with “LOL LOOK HOW BAD RECORDERS ARE”: This is for you.
Recorders have actually been around FAR longer than most other wind instruments and good ones sound great. The thing is, in elementary school, you played a $10 recorder because that is what they could afford and they’re whistle-style aerophones, so they’re easy to teach. A $10 clarinet, trumpet, or trombone would sound JUST AS PITCHY AND BAD. Not to mention the skill level of people playing shitty recorders is probably nil. Please don’t dis instruments when you haven’t heard how great a good one can sound.
